'DW Fly Fishing & Tying': Pursuing the UK's wild trout and grayling with the fly

Amazing!.. The two tone from thorax to abdomen is remarkable..
Lovely looking bug D'.
Do you like the Varivas hooks you have used?
I love the shape, but don't find them great hookers or very strong.
Smaller sizes such as <18 are good but the bigger ones seem to be a bit bendy!
I really like these hooks. They are a bit of a 'marmite' issue though - love or hate them. The prifile is great and whilst I have had a few issues with stregth with the earlier versions, my confidence has been restored.
I am less keen with them used with tungsten shell backs.I always feel the ballast is working against a solid hook up. But other than that, they are a firm favourite.
