Olive Quill

A useful little olive pattern - this suits early season hatches of Large Dark Olives when smaller sizes often seem to be taken in preference to larger offerings.

Hook: Partridge SLD #18
Thread: 14/0 Sheer, grey
Tail: Coq de Leon
Body: Quill, dyed olive
Wing: CDC, tips tied over eye and then folded back.

Beautiful job on that quill! I've never had much luck tying quills, but CDC is staple.

Thanks all. Gets you thinking about spring!

Andy, these quills are new to me - sent last week - polish quills. Very durable and supple. I will bung you some at the Bffi to try.

Cracking little fly, those quills sure make a simple fly look delicious. I love it for nymphs and buzzers too!
